During my time working at a community hospital, I observed that some newborns would greatly benefit from additional care and support—particularly in having appropriate clothing during their stay and a few outfits to take home. After the birth of one baby girl in particular, it became evident to me that there was a gap in the resources available to support the basic needs of our newborn patients.
